Clutter Wars Part 2
Good morning Readers!
Since we are on the subject of clutter (or getting rid of clutter) I thought I would insert some personal tips I have been doing. I am beyond guilty of over stuffing my house. I have SO MUCH stuff! I have collected a lot of stuff over the years and part of that is because I would consider myself to be sentimental. A lot of the things I have hold value to me. Not in a fiscal way but a memory way. As we get older I think we tend to hold onto our stuff a little more. I like to think that I am the type of person who would not care if their house burned down tomorrow as long as I have my pictures. But as I keep looking back, I really don't think I am. Obviously, I would have to adapt to my new situation but I would really, and I mean REALLY miss my things. I have a wide variety of stuff, like most of us do. I have things from my great grandparents, my parents, my grandparents, my aunts, my sister, my first drivers license, etc. I keep telling myself "one day I am going to make a scrapbook for this" and I never have. I am so guilty of holding onto stuff that my husband and I bought our first home because neither of us wanted to move from the first place we had together. Thankfully we were able to get a good price and still reside there today. My point leading into clutter wars part 2 is not everything can be kept. Somethings just have to go. It's figuring out what holds less value seems to be the tricky part. I hope you find some of my tips helpful. I Should probably take my own advice on the last note. Until next time!
Cheers,
Elle

* I make it a point to go through all my bins and drawers once a year and weed out all the things that have just been collected, shoved, stored, etc.
* I clean out my closet twice a year. Once in the spring when I go from my winter wardrobe to my summer/spring. And again from summer to my fall/winter clothes. This also includes shoes. (this year I made a vow that I will not shop until spring on 2021. Ask me how I am doing later) I do this with my husbands clothes too.
* Kid clean up! I make my kids go through their toys EVERY year before Christmas. Yes, I use this amazing holiday (Those who believe in Christ, I have a lot more thanking to do to him for this holiday other than his birth) to tell my kids they have to fill one whole trash bag FULL of toys before I mail their letter to Santa. Some may find this rude, or insane. If it gets my kids to clean I am ALL ears so I am sorry if I offend anyone. And you are probably wondering how they can accomplish this year after year. The truth is my kids are spoiled and we have a MASSIVE family who love to keep giving my kids stuff.
* I help my husband clean out our shop. Meaning I can help encourage him to get rid of some stuff that he might be holding onto that has no real value or he does not use. If it is decorative or we can find it a home it stays. I am not great at this one however. It has been about 3 years since we have done this task. I am sure you can imagine how it is looking. Not great friends. Not great at all.
